Biography
Robert Modderman (1996) was born and raised in the Netherlands. At the age of 9 he started playing the piano and quickly developed a solid basis in classical piano. In 2009, Robert joined a few bands (mainly pop and jazz oriented) and back then he also started experimenting with digital music production which has transformed into a serious occupation today.
In 2010-2013, Robert was subsequently admitted to the Young Talent Classes at the conservatories of Groningen and Zwolle, where he took classical piano lessons from internationally recognized pianists, including Paul Komen and Sepp Grotenhuis. Robert also took a masterclass from Daniël Wayenberg (†2019), who was recognized one of the best Dutch pianists of all times.
In 2013, Robert's formal music education came to an end, as he decided to go to university. In 2023, he obtained his master's degree in Mathematics. This however has never stopped him from playing and producing music for over a good decade. Robert is fully self-taught in music production, and so is his jazz performance on the piano, both in the studio and live. Since many years he has been mastering the art of digital music production by playing and recording the majority of sounds himself on keyboards and knowing how to make music sound well without overproduction.

Robert has always been maintaining a solid repertoire in classical music and he has never stopped developing himself clasically on the piano as well. Robert's current main focus on classical piano is the late romantic era, and he's been keen for a long time on expanding his repertoire with pieces by Claude Debussy, Franz Liszt, Frédéric Chopin, and Maurice Ravel. Over the years, Robert has not only gained experience in live performances and music production, he also has been involved in the accompaniment of many singers and solo instrumentalists, both for live performances and music competitions.
